I told you so…
by Jesse J. Lewis, Sr.

If you will recall, five weeks before the season opened I predicted that Auburn University would go to a bowl game. They have already won four games and here are the other teams they will beat:
5. Western Carolina
6. Florida Atlantic
7. Arkansas
8. Tennessee

The game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn will be awfully close. My guess would be that Alabama will beat Auburn, but Auburn will be leading at halftime.
There was much to-do about nothing last week when Alabama suspended Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Nick Saban made the right decision. He found out what the problem was, corrected it and notified the NCAA as it relates to the punishment. There are two things Nick Saban understands better than anyone:
1. When you recruit a lot of four and five star players, you will have some problems out of some of them.
2. When you are No.1 at anything you do, you always live under scrutiny.
Alabama no longer recruits, they select. Nick Saban is just like Tiger Woods, the media follows him to the bathroom and if he stays longer than two minutes, they have a list of five questions waiting for him.

The Blame Game between the Democrats and Republicans

The people who will suffer most for what the dumb politicians are doing in Washington are the American people and America itself by shutting down the government because they do not want to fund the Affordable Care Act.
Speaking of the Affordable Care Act, if you were to interview a thousand people, and ask them what do you think about ObamaCare vs the Affordable Care Act, 98 percent of them would say ObamaCare has too many holes in it and I don’t understand it. Then they will say I love the Affordable Care Act and this  is the one we need to support. Would you believe the Affordable Care Act and ObamaCare are the same thing?
The Republicans named it ObamaCare as an insult to the President and to use it to beat him in the 2012 election. Now what the Republicans are planning to do is not only shut down the government but make sure the debt ceiling is not raised to stop the government from paying its bills.
The budget strategy led by Republican Senator Ted Cruz to defund Obamacare was destined for failure and the events that unfolded in Congress last week proved it, New York Rep. Peter King said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“If we want to defund something, we should repeal it,” King said. “This was a strategy doomed for failure, and Ted Cruz has now walked away from it. We are the ones who shut this government down.”
This is so unAmerican. I envision what will happen moving forward that there will be a three party  system: Democrats, Republicans and Tea Partiers.
The Republican Party has stated over and over again that they want a larger tent to bring Hispanics, women and Blacks into; therefore, they will change their approach. What they don’t understand is the approach won’t matter; they must change their policies. Until they change their policies they will never win a national election.

NFL’s Redskins should think about changing name

Obama said teams names like the Redskins offend “a sizable group of people.” He said that while fans get attached to the nicknames, nostalgia may not be a good enough reason to keep them in place. “I don’t know whether our attachment to a particular name should override the real legitimate concerns that people have about these things,” he said. An avid sports fan, Obama said he doesn’t think Washington football fans are purposely trying to offend American Indians. “I don’t want to detract from the wonderful Redskins fans that are here. They love their team and rightly so,” he said. But the president appeared to come down on the side of those who have criticized the team’s name noting that Indians ‘feel pretty strongly’ about mascots and team names that depict negative stereotypes about their heritage.
I totally disagree with the president. I do not believe the Redskins should change their name. The Washington Redskins have been the Redskins for over 70 years and no one has complained until recently. I think it should be an honor to have a team named after anyone’s heritage. If I were the owner I would die and go to heaven before I change the name. I might consider changing it if someone told me I were to die and go to hell.
