The Alabama Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows – Interdenominational will celebrate their Inaugural Banquet, Friday, December 13, at the Watermark Place Event Center, 4500 Adventure Parkway, Bessemer, AL. The celebration will begin at 7 p.m.
The Alabama Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows – Interdenominational became charter members of the 73 year old Convention of the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows – Interdenominational, Incorporated on June 28, 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
We are honored in Alabama to have captured the dream for such an organization that was initially implanted in the heart and mind of the founding and first president, Dr. Elizabeth Coles Bouey, prior to the organization’s establishment in 1941. Today, the organization’s constituency exceeds 43,000 and consists of 103 denominations, with chapters in 41 of the United States, the District of Columbia, and 18 nations of five of the seven continents. Our headquarters is located in Richmond, Virginia.
The vision and purposes of this organization then, and now, seven decades later continues to be:
•    To prepare ministers’ wives and ministers’ widows for more effective service in Kingdom building.
•    To unite ministers’ wives and ministers’ widows of various Christian denominations into one Christian fellowship.
•    To sponsor an annual conference that provides information, inspiration and problem solving skill development.
•    To cultivate international good will, develop strong interpersonal relationships and foster a more effective communication network.
•    To promote cultural exchange with ministers’ wives around the world.
•    To function as a Christian nonprofit Corporation and implement the Christian and charitable purposes of the Corporation.
In addition to emphasizing personal and spiritual growth for its membership, the organization has supported many charitable causes. We support young people seeking education through scholarships for higher learning.
Dr. Beverly Williams Glover of Macon, Georgia is now serving as the eighth International President of the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows – Interdenominational, Incorporated and has been unanimously selected as our Inaugural Banquet speaker. Lady Dorothy McAdory is president elect of the Alabama Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows – Interdenominational.
