Musical NotesBy Esther Callens

A unique listening experience can be found in the music of Donovan Tate aka XI-VOX.  A New Beginning is the title of the new CD by XI-VOX. Combining a mixture of techno, pop, synth and Tate’s signature style, XI-VOX music is thoroughly innovative and cutting edge.
To properly describe A New Beginning, I referred to XI-VOX liner notes. It states “XI-VOX, the new solo Christian project by Donovan Tate. Consistently captivated with a dynamic electronic and keyboard range combining the familiar sounds of the old school ’80s Synth-pop and Gothic past with its own original ideas.  Fascinating and intriguing with its CD EP “A New Beginning” that includes the aggressive six minute synth-pop track “Glorify, Purify” with a Gregorian chant choir opening the song as an intro. “Renew” gives off a catchy darker and striking melodic vibe that’s masterfully crafted with the help of Donovan’s cousin and producer, Daron Franklin. The EP is to let the listeners interpret and experience their own reactions to it and be touched by the music and the lyrics itself.”
Further it stated “XI-VOX is the new essential compelling new music project. Influences are early Depeche Mode and Clan of Xymox. Original modern synth-pop and gothic sounds and ideas shining through all six tracks on the CD, while the seventh track “You Ain’t Getting In” have an old traditional gospel flavor that’s written and sung by Donovan’s children, Allistair Monrow and Stacia.”
A New Beginning offers a one of a kind CD by an exclusive artist. Something the entertainment industry can use more of as music is unlimited.
Track listing: Aisha, Renew, Aisha II, Glorify, Purify, You Ain’t Getting In, Trap In Darkness, Two Strangers.
