It’s Time for a Praise Break

I grew up in church. We were there all the time, especially if it was Men’s Day, Women’s Day, Youth Day, Children’s Day, Easter program, Christmas play, Vacation Bible School, Revival…you name it and we were there. I know I’m not the only one! I would sit in the back with my friends hoping my mother did not see me talking or passing notes. But amongst all the giggling and girl talk, I remember hearing strange phrases spoken from the “mothers” of the church. Sometimes they made me laugh because I wondered what in the world they were talking about. But today, I get it! I now understand why they were so vocal and joyous. Their phrases and clichés finally make sense.

So today, let’s take a praise break!!!! Because the “mothers” of the church were right! So…..here we go!!!!

If I had 10,000 tongues, I still couldn’t praise Him enough.

Every day with You is sweeter than the day before.

He’s a heart fixer and a mind regulator.

He’s my burden bearer. My heavy load sharer.

He didn’t have to do it, but He did!

He is sweeter than the honey in a honeycomb.

He’s my way maker.

No cross, no crown.

You can’t beat God’s giving. No matter how you try.

He’s my company keeper.

He’s my leaning post.

Jesus…I just love the sound of Your name.

He did it a long time ago. He didn’t wait for me to get myself together.

Everything changes at the mention of His name.

Can’t nobody do me like Jesus.

I’m wrapped, tied, tangled all up with the Lord.

Ok, Ok…it’s your turn! If you grew up in church like me, come on! Join the praise break! Who is He to you? Who did the “mothers” in your church refer to Him as? What do you remember them saying about Jesus that you may have laughed at as a child, but today, you know to be true? Take a minute today and give Him the praise He is due. He’s done so much for me, I just can’t tell it all. Oops…there’s another one!
