Wenonah High School’s Homecoming Committee and Student Government Association came up with a distinct way this week to kick off homecoming festivities. Students, faculty and staff wore their African inspired fashions and stood in solidarity as a declaration to celebrate their heritage.

Principal Regina Carr-Hope was proud of her school. “Wenonah High School is definitely a school with a mission to inspire the total child – mind, body and soul,” she said. “We want our students to leave our school knowing that they are born to win. With all that’s going on in our country, we can’t afford to let another child leave not understanding the beauty of their history as an African American. I applaud our homecoming committee; they did an awesome job.”

Faculty sponsors were Tennille Blackmon, Valencia Baker-Anderson, Deborah Reed, Fallin Ladd, Danica Callen and Vernetta Watters.
