Nick Patterson named Digital Content Coordinator for The Birmingham Times

Nicholas Patterson has been named digital content coordinator for the Birmingham Times Media Group, Inc.

Patterson, who was born in Ensley and raised in Homewood, has been in journalism for more than 35 years as both a writer and editor. He is the former editor of Weld: Birmingham’s Newspaper.

Sam Martin, publisher and president of the BTMG, said, “We feel very fortunate to have someone like Nick join our team. He is an experienced journalist who has deep roots in the Birmingham community. We look forward to his experience across print and digital platforms as we continue to reimagine the Birmingham Times.”

Patterson said, “I’m really looking forward to people across this community coming to appreciate the Birmingham Times as longtime readers already do . . . I’ve been incredibly impressed to see the Times transformed into a terrific paper and I’m excited to be able to contribute to its growth.”

Patterson has worked for Southern Living, Coastal Living, This Old House, History Magazine, Southern Automotive Alliance magazine, and the Birmingham Post-Herald. He is the author of Birmingham Foot Soldiers: Voices from the Civil Rights Movement.

He teaches as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in communication studies and African American studies.
