The Veterans Ministry, which has been active since 2014, will recognize the church’s veterans and its families and offer a Veterans Seminar to give information on various veterans’ issues and concerns.

U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major William Allen, Lieutenant Colonel Sonia DeYampert, Sergeant First Class A. Thomas.

The ministry, which is comprised of 40 members, serves year-round in various ways, including ministering to men at the Jimmie Hale Mission, serving food and having a worship service with the men. They also partner with Angels of Compassion and We Care Ministries to visit veterans in nursing homes and at Linn Park to serve meals to the homeless.

Veterans also provide holiday outreach to the communities within the Birmingham area through distributing Mother’s Day Baskets, Operation Good News and Thanksgiving Turkey baskets.

This year’s event will showcase the veterans’ talent, including member William Allen, Command Sergeant Major, who will sing “Old Glory.”
