SAXOPHONIST KAMASI WASHINGTON, 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Saturn – Kamasi Washington is an American jazz musician based in Los Angeles, Calif. Born into a musical family, Kamasi began playing saxophone at the age of 13, later attending the prestigious Hamilton High School of Music followed by UCLA. He has toured and recorded with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rapahel Saadiq, Kendrick Lamar, Gerald Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Harvey Mason and Chaka Khan, to name a few. Kamasi released his groundbreaking solo album, “The Epic,” on May 5th, 2015. The 172-minute, triple disc masterpiece, which includes a full string orchestra and full choir, debuted at #1 on several iTunes Jazz charts, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, Russia and UK. In addition to composing his own music, Kamasi is part of a west coast musical collective called the “West Coast Get Down.” He was voted the “Best New Music” on Pitchfork and has reported in the New York Times, LA Weekly, and on NPR.

TODAY: MARIO TORY. Tennessee born native, Mario Tory began his comedy career in the famous Uptown Comedy Corner. After showcasing his skills and experiencing the stage, he knew he had found his niche. He began involving himself in every open mic night and comedy club he could grasp. Mario went on to blaze stages in the Atlanta area including Sunday Nite Phat Comedy, Tuesday Comedy@ Kats Cafe & Wednesdays @ 255 Tapas. He also ventured into Christian comedy which landed him as host in the 3rd Annual Praise and Gospel Concert.

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: MO’NIQUE. Mo’Nique’s F.A.T. Chance on Oxygen, The Queens of Comedy – Movie and National Tour, The Parkers – UPN, Soul Plane – Movie are just a few of her credits. Mo’Nique is an award-winning comedienne whose career began 16 years ago in her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. She took to the stage for the first time on a dare from her brother. The overwhelming response and standing ovation she received gave her the courage to pursue a comedy career professionally. From there, she gained visibility and immense popularity with performances on “Showtime at the Apollo,” HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam,” “Apollo Comedy Hour,” HBO’s “Snaps,” BET’s “Comic View,” The Montreal Comedy Festival and Uptown Comedy Club. Mo’Nique credits her big break as the day she quit her job at the phone company in Baltimore to pursue her comedy dream wholeheartedly.
