There are times of our lives that we remember fondly because we had a sense of peace. We asked Birmingham-area residents, When and where were you happiest?

Sheila Storch

Sheila Storch: “In July I went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and it was one of the most beautiful places on the planet to me. There were beautiful mountains and parks and it was just a wonderful experience. I love to travel so any time I get to travel and see beautiful places is when I’m the happiest.”

Aisha Denson

Aisha Denson: “For my 21st birthday I went to Tortola [the largest of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean]. It was a long time ago but I was the happiest there because it was one of the most beautiful islands I’ve ever seen. It was just peaceful and clear blue water and it was . . . my first time traveling internationally so I was happy to get a stamp on my passport.”

Amber Etheridge

Amber Etheridge: “When I was in elementary school. It was before everyone told you that you had to be something and you could just be your care-free self without people judging you . . . I didn’t really care about people telling me how to be happy. I’m happy now, but when you’re young, you’re just as happy as you can be.”

Kris Armstrong

Kris Armstrong: “College. I attended Birmingham Southern College and it was just the most fun. It was my first taste of freedom, I got to meet new people and have new experiences and it was really my introduction to adulthood and I really found myself in college so even though there were some downs, there were a lot of ups and it was one of the happiest moments in my life.”
