Members of the Magic City Chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators took time out last week for some very special students at Arrington Middle School.  The NFBPA members visited 8th graders as part of National Mentoring Month. National Mentoring Month focuses local, as well as national attention on the need for individuals, businesses, agencies, professionals and those who can to work together to increase the number of mentors for our youth so that we can promote a positive outcome for their lives. Each had a great time.  And it wasn’t just a moment to stop in and say hello.  Students learned about the importance of having mentors in their lives.  They also did exercises in public speaking; learned how to properly address an audience, and they were charged with an assignment to set five life goals.  In addition to volunteering in the classrooms, NFBPA also brought school supplies to assist students in need for the 2nd half of the school year.   NFBPA serves as a catalyst for linking public, private and academic institutions.  The local chapter is committed to making a difference in the lives of our students.  If you are interested in learning more about NFBPA you may reach us at MagicCityNFBPA@gmail.com, like us on Facebook or browse the national link at www.nfbpa.org
