Miles College’s “The Extra Mile 21 Day Challenge Student Aid Campaign,” launched this summer, generated $140,000 for the institution.

President George T. French Jr. kicked off the campaign June 12 through June 30. The Miles College community and all its supporters were asked to help raise funds to support student scholars.

“I hope that through this campaign we inspire others to get involved in ensuring the academic success of our students. We want to ensure that our student scholars and athletes are able to successfully matriculate through Miles College and ultimately graduate,” said French. “Miles College has accomplished extraordinary things strategically designed to support the ambition of our academic community.”

A college education can be a challenge without ongoing financial assistance. With 97 percent of Miles College students requiring some form of funding many struggle to overcome obstacles to complete their studies in higher education.

The Extra Mile 21 Day Challenge Campaign has proven to be an invaluable student-retention initiative that will play a critical role in helping to keep a large majority of students on the path to graduation.

The online giving component of the campaign was enhanced to increase donor giving and provide a consistent way for alums, community leaders and members to stay engaged with Miles.

Miles College Office of Institutional Planning and Development will continue to develop the president’s vision to grow Miles. The goal is to encourage and increase donor giving.  The office will aggressively continue soliciting new donors and cultivating relationships with alumni, friends, philanthropic organizations, corporations, foundations and other entities.
