Pylon Building Group has entered the next phase of its growth as Reggie Torbor becomes CEO and president. Torbor has been with Pylon from its January 2023 launch, previously serving solely as president.
From the start, Pylon Building Group has aimed to become a minority-owned general contractor grounded in great people, reliable processes and trusted relationships. The company creates career paths for people who might not otherwise get to learn construction trades.
Created as a wholly owned subsidiary of Brasfield & Gorrie, early support helped Pylon establish itself as a capable, values-driven builder and prepared the company for this next step. As leadership and control transfers to Torbor, Pylon is no longer wholly owned by Brasfield & Gorrie.
“This transition has always been part of the vision,” said Torbor, a former Auburn University football star. “We spent these first years doing the hard work—building the right team, learning together and earning trust. That foundation allows us to move forward with confidence while staying true to who we are.”
Pylon has served as general contractor for several notable Birmingham projects, including Junior Achievement McWane Economic Exploration Center, Girl Scouts USA Vestavia Hills Center and the Regions downtown 20th floor renovation.
“When we helped launch Pylon, the goal was never short-term,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Executive Chairman Jim Gorrie. “It was about building something strong and lasting. Reggie and the Pylon team have done exactly that, and we’re proud to see them take this next step. We look forward to continuing our relationship, working together when appropriate and cheering them on as they move ahead.”
Pylon’s growth has been driven by an intentional focus on people, bringing together a talented, diverse team and creating opportunities within the construction industry and the Birmingham community. That focus will continue to guide the company as it grows.
“We’re grateful to the clients, partners and teammates who believed in us early and gave us the chance to prove ourselves,” Torbor said. “Their trust made this moment possible, and we’re excited to keep building together.”
Pylon Building Group is a full-service general construction company that assists clients by managing every phase of their project, from concept to design to construction.
