Tri-County (AL) Chapter of The Links honors six outstanding citizens at Model Fundraiser

Over 300 guests gathered on the first and second floors for a Cocktail Day Party hosted at The Harbert Center by The Tri-County (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Six people were honored as outstanding model citizens during their annual Model Fundraiser.

The Links has five facets and each of these committees nominated an individual who exemplified their ideals and purpose.

The honorees were Mr. Alvin Garrett for The Arts, Dr. Sandra Ford for Health and Human Services, Dr. Pauline Jolly for International Trends and Services, Mrs. Iyishia Jones for National Trends and Services and Renasant Bank for Services to Youth.  Tri-County Links member Mrs. Tracey Morant Adams represented Renasant Bank at the Model Event.

The fundraiser chair, Ms. Samuetta Hill Drew and co-chair Dr. Susanne Matthews introduced a new Model category this year, The President’s Award, which honors a citizen who represents the chapter’s goals and their primary mission of youth empowerment.  This year’s honoree was Ms. Cecilia Pearson. This award was presented by our chapter’s president, Mrs. Barbara S. Allen, immediate past president, Mrs. Betty H. Underwood-Strong and the chapter’s inaugural president, Ms. Samuetta Hill Drew.  All awards were presented during a program segment of the Model Day Party.

The Harbert Center was adorned with Champagne and Chocolate décor for the Model Day Party decorated by the Model Fundraiser Committee members Brooke Adams, Tracey Morant Adams, Rhonda Allen, Kathy Bonds, Arlillian Kate Bushelon, Rolessa Powell Coleman Esq., Lynn Flowers-Martin, Aurelia Hill, Rosilyn Houston, Norma Humes, Alesia Jones, Rukiya McClain, Linda Parsons, Dr. Tonya Perry, Betty H. Underwood-Strong, Debbie Williams along with the two chairs. The guests walked the VIP Green Carpet into the event where they were met with an array of bubbles swirling through the air.  The Model guests were treated to food, champagne cocktails and other spirits as they mixed, mingled and danced to the entertainment provided by B Brian.

Among the special guests at the Tri-County Links Model Day Party where Mrs. Tamara Lee from Tuskegee, Alabama The Links National HBCU Chair, Mrs. Vanessa Falls Body, Southern Area Secretary and Mrs. Erika Lyles. Other officers in attendance were Tri-County’s own Mrs. Tracey Morant Adams, Southern Area Parliamentarian, Dr. Brenda Taylor, Southern Area Protocol Co-Chair and Dr. Susanne Matthews, Southern Area Rituals Co-Chair.
