Chris Rock could literally buy your block with his new $40 million deal for his next two stand up comedies. The deal with Netflix is the culmination of a bidding war that included Amazon, Hulu and HBO.

Rock has been hosting awards shows, like the Oscars, and guest starring on hit shows, like Empire, but he hasn’t done any stand up for eight years. The $40 million deal shows networks were like fiends for nicotine on this deal. That’s $20 million worth of funny per show. As if you ain’t know, that’s a whole lot of funny money per joke.

“Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand-up makes him comic royalty. There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer told Variety.

Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of original documentary and comedy said “Coming on the heels of our first Emmy win in the category, now is the perfect time to take things to the next level with Chris Rock.”

The shows have not yet been titled, nor has a release date been set.
