Road Closures Planned in Birmingham This Weekend for FISE World Series at City Walk

Motorists are advised to expect temporary road closures near City Walk BHAM as the City of Birmingham prepares to host the FISE World Series, an internationally recognized action sports festival taking place August 7-9.

The following traffic changes will be in effect:

  • 18th Street North (from Abraham Woods Boulevard toward City Walk BHAM) is closed now through 5 a.m. on August 11.
  • 19th Street North will be closed from 10 p.m. on August 6 through 5 a.m. on August 10.
  • Both 18th Street North and 19th Street North will have soft closures at Abraham Woods Boulevard, allowing limited local access. A hard closure will be in place closer to the interstate, where no vehicle access will be permitted.
  • Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA): Access to the rear of the campus will remain available via 18th Street North. Vehicles must exit on 19th Street North and will be required to turn right to travel southbound.
  • Boutwell Auditorium: Vehicle access will be available via Abraham Woods Boulevard, with exits on 19th Street North. Drivers must turn left to travel southbound.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs and directions from public safety personnel.

The FISE World Series will bring elite athletes from around the globe to Birmingham for three days of Olympic-style action sports, 3-on-3 basketball, live entertainment, food vendors, and family-friendly activities at City Walk BHAM. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors while showcasing Birmingham as a premier destination for sports, culture, and tourism.
