Basketball inches closer to ending ban on religious headdresses

International basketball competitions could have players wearing religious headgear including hijabs and yarmulkes soon. Leaders of basketball’s governing body “issued a mandate” at their recent meeting for its playing rules committee to come forward with a proposal for headgear to be worn safely by athletes in competition, with the goal of approving the change at its meeting in May.
