The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The initial incident occurred Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the 3500 block of Carver Avenue.
The victim has been identified as:Charlie Fuller, W/M, 86, of Birmingham, Alabama
On Wednesday, May 13, 2015 around 9:00 a.m. West Precinct officers responded to the listed location on a robbery call. Upon arrival, the victim was in the process of being transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. It appeared the victim was suffering from blunt force trauma to the head area. The victim later died from his injuries on Monday, May 25, 2015 around 7:00pm at UAB Hospital.
Our preliminary investigation revealed that the victim went outside to feed his dogs but never returned back to his residence. A neighbor stated, he noticed one of the dogs had run off and was returning home and out of concern the neighbor went to investigate. The neighbor found the victim lying on the ground in the garage suffering from a head injury. This is an ongoing homicide investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
