BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham City Council has approved a two month amnesty program on unpaid fines for traffic, parking and non-moving tickets and other citations allowing citizens the opportunity to pay overdue tickets without the threat of additional penalties.
The amnesty period will run from February 3 through March 31,
Domestic violence, DUI and drug related offenses are excluded from this amnesty program.
During the amnesty period, hours at the Municipal Court, where fines are paid, will be extended to 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Beginning March 1, the courts will also open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 12 noon.
No amnesty will be awarded after March 31; however, efforts to serve warrants will intensify following the amnesty period.
