Jesus Drinks From an Awful Cup

Luke 22:42

“Pray that you will not fall into temptation, Jesus said to his disciples. Then, he left them and went to a private place. There he prayed Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done” (Luke 23:40-43). He was in great anguish as He prayed, and He prayed so earnestly His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
The cup of which He spoke was not an ordinary one. It was a cup filled with the things He knew He would go through in crucifixion. It was a cupful of sin. He took upon himself the sins of the world. He suffered and died for the worst of us, and the best of us. It was for your and my sins.
It was a cupful of wrath.Sin pays off in death (Romans 3:23). On the cross, Jesus suffered and died, paying for the sins of us all. “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us … “(Galatians 3:13).
It was a cupful of suffering. Jesus was fully human, and He went through terrible physical and spiritual suffering. The Psalmist foretold of His suffering saying, “I am poured out like water, all my bones are out of joint, my heart is like wax, it is melted within me” (Psalm 22:14). Nails and thorns tore through His body, but betrayal, desertion, and mockery pierced His heart.
It was a cupful of mercy. The one thought that sustained Him was He knew that through His suffering and death millions would have their sins forgiven, and enter into a loving relationship with God. He died for us that we might live for Him. Bless His Holy name.

STOP Living Beneath Your Privilege

0

STOP LIVINGBut you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.  1 Peter 2:9

This morning I was in a conversation and as the other person was speaking about some of the things they have done and places they have been, I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions. I began to look back over my life and think about some of the choices I have made in the past that have led me to where I am today. As I was trying to deal with what was going on I felt in my Spirit “you have been living beneath your privilege.” Wow is all I could say because that statement is very true. I have not been living my life as if I am a child of a King, I have not been walking through life as if I am a joint heir with Christ or that my Father created everything and has clearly stated in His Word that all I need do is ask, seek or knock while believing to receive whatever I want, do whatever I want to do and be what I’ve been created to be. But am I alone? What about you? Have you been accepting what is being given or offered to you as the best there is or have you been standing on His Word and going for what you deserve?
“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.  Luke 15:20

The beautiful thing about our Heavenly Father is that He will not hold those bad decisions against you, He has not been (like you and I) keeping a tally of your wrong turns and He certainly has not removed your name from the beneficiary list. Your inheritance is still yours. Stop accepting less than what you deserve. Stop selecting less than you desire and stop doing things that don’t tell others that you are His child. You deserve the best and God has the best for you. It’s time to live the life God intended and anything or anyone standing in the way of that should be informed and eliminated. You are royalty so stop living like a peasant.

Take your place in the Kingdom,
Minister Deidra Bibb

That They May be One!

Electra Adams  Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost; to physically demonstrate righteous living before men; to declare the Kingdom of God. The story of the Cross to many appears simple and  to many of our deep thinkers, mundane. It is a truth that the story has been well rehearsed through the ages. But, to those who truly understand the cost (His Blood) of the merchandise (the soul of man and the reconciliation of man and God),  the story is still most profound.
The pain and pressure of ministry upon His shoulders must have been horrendous to Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. I am sure that knowing the true strength of each apostle, the greatest challenge for them would not be stumbling over the doctrine, stumbling over the  reality of His existence or even stumbling over His love for either of them. It was and is the devil’s purpose to divide and conquer all of us who name the name of Jesus. Jesus; prayer for them strongly reveals His greatest and most absolute concern for them:  (John 17:9-11) I pray  for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which you have given me; for they are yours. And all mine are yours, and yours are mine: and I am glorified in them. And now, I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom you have given me, that they may be one.
During the month of March, we tested the waters of human greatness and concluded that the man who is able to esteem his brother greater than himself, demonstrates attributes of profound greatness. Today, we ask the ancient question: Why can we not become one in Him? What is the root of our oneness in the church? In a recent conversation with Bishop Daryl Jackson, Pastor of Church of the First Born  and  leader of That They May be One Fellowship of Cottondale, Alabama, he stated: The responsibility of being one is motivated or driven by the quality of every individual’s worship offered unto God. We become connected according to the strength of our worship. The more we please Him in worship, the more we are fulfilled in our own lives. The journey  of trying to achieve oneness is a personal victory, many parts becoming one body and one church. Realizing that wholeness can sometimes seem difficult because the humans race is comprised of multiplicities of fears, issues of the heart, walls erected from victimization, damages of yesterday, and barriers of culture and environmental orientations, we must be willing to contend for the love, unity and oneness of the brotherhood in Christ. We must contend to know no one after the flesh, but to know one another according to the Spirit!
Until we meet here on another day! Join me May 7-8th  as we feature TBN’s Bishop George G. Bloomer of Durham, North Carolina, guest speaker of our 2014 Holy Convocation. Services will begin nightly at 7 p.m. sharply. 1024 Ethel Lane (35235).
We pray: Father make us one!

Super Bowl MVP Joins Hornets Coaching Staff

0

Alabama State MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama State University Head Football Coach Reggie Barlow has announced the addition of Dexter Jackson to the coaching staff where he will coach the Hornets safeties.
“Dexter had always talked about wanting to be a college coach and to come up and work for me and be a part,” Barlow said.  “Dex is obviously a guy who is very knowledgeable, understands the game, a good people person and I thought he would be a good fit.  He has the enthusiasm you want in a young coach and he wants to learn and teach the stuff he knows.”
Barlow and Jackson had previous ties as the two were teammates at Tampa Bay when the Bucs won the 2003 Super Bowl.  Jackson was named the game’s MVP after intercepting two Oakland Raider passes in the Bucs’ 48-21 victory.
Jackson spent 10 seasons in the NFL following his final season at Florida State where he finished his career as a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) pick and was also an Academic All-ACC honoree.  He completed his collegiate career with 194 tackles, seven interceptions and four blocked field goals.
Jackson was drafted in the fourth round as the 113th overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1999 draft.
He played for Tampa Bay 1999-2002 before signing with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent in 2003.  After spending a season with the Cardinals he re-signed with Tampa Bay where he played the 2004 and 2005 seasons before finishing his NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals playing 2006-08.
Jackson finished his NFL career with 433 total tackles including five sacks.  He also had 17 career interceptions.
“I always kept in touch with Reggie during the season,” Jackson said.  “He (Barlow) called me and asked me if I was still working with the football teams and I told him I was still working with them and he knew my history.  You can’t be perfect but you can strive for that and he told me he needed someone to coach safeties and I know your history and know how you work and I told him I was ready.”
He and his wife Tina are the parents of four daughters; Jasmine, Daisia, Meah and Taylor.

Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist to Dedicate Their Newly Renovated Tabernacle

0

Cumberland   For more than a century, Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist has served to: 1) promote fellowship among the churches of the same belief; 2) foster church development, education and spiritual growth; 3) maintain the doctrine and fundamental beliefs of Primitive Baptists; and, 4) establish policies, precedents, procedures, and directives agreeable to membership churches.
On Saturday, April 19, Moderator Richard Lloyd, Pastor of Green Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Nolensville, Tennessee, Vice Moderator James Duke, Pastor of St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee, and members of Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist will dedicate Cumberland’s newly renovated tabernacle headquartered at 232 Whitsett Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee.  (The current location – originally known as “the Flat Rock” – was purchased in 1941 for $3,500 and was deeded to the Trustees of the Cumberland Association of the Regular Primitive Baptist and their Successors.)
The organization’s 134 year milestone celebration will begin at 9 a.m. with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Dedication Worship Service.
According to the records of this religious organization, Cumberland Association of the Regular Primitive Baptist (now known as Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist) was organized in 1880 by the Lynn Creek Association of the Regular Primitive Baptist. It is believed that Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist was given the name “Cumberland” because of the Cumberland River. The late Elder Luke Mason who came from the Lynn Creek Association was the first moderator and possibly a founder or one of the founders of Cumberland Association of the Regular Primitive Baptist.
In addition to Elder Mason who was moderator from 1880 – 1915, seven moderators have served the organization. They are: the late Elder A. M. Bedford (1915 – 1920; 1921 – 1923); the late Elder D. A. Kimbro (1920 – 1921); the Late Elder Z.W. Hill (1921 – 1960); the Late Elder Washington Green (1960 – 1986); Elder Dr. J.L. Fitzgerald, Pastor of Ephesian Primitive Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee (1986 – 2000); Elder Hewitt Sawyers, Pastor of West Harpeth Primitive Baptist Church, Franklin, Tennessee (2000 – 2010); and Elder Richard Lloyd (2010 – present).
Presently, Cumberland Association has a membership of approximately 5,000, representing churches in eight Middle Tennessee counties (Davidson, Giles, Marshall, Maury, Rutherford, White, Williamson, and Wilson) and is a denominational member of the National Primitive Baptist Convention, USA.  (At one time, Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptist had churches in the states of Kentucky and Indiana but those churches are now a part of two associations – Chicago River and Kentuckiana – that were organized by Cumberland Association.)
The entire history of this association will certainly not be told this side of eternity, but it is certain that God’s grace and Christ’s guiding presence have led Cumberland Association of Primitive Baptists.
A Luncheon will follow the Ribbon Cutting/Dedication Ceremony and Worship Service.
The public is invited to attend.

A Quest to Know God

OMNIPRESENCE OF GOD
There seems to be a consensus that the Almighty God is at a certain location and He does not know what is going on over here, wherever over here is.
The reason for the puzzling statement is because many church service settings seems to be completely out of touch with the Author of the church, and His order of rendering service to Him of which He ordained. He, Jesus, is whom church is all about, and that is why everyone comes together to enjoy the presence of the Lord with one to another fellowshipping in love. If you never feel a touch from the Lord, why do you pretend to be going to church to worship the Lord among a people whose hearts should be set for worshipping Him, and Him alone. Jesus said He is not coming back for bricks and mortar, but a holy people without blemish, a set aside people, with prepared hearts to meet the Lord. [Ephesians 5:27]
God is everywhere simultaneously, and He said, “He neither slumbers – slumber means He never gets weary nor sleepy or tired [Psalm 121:4].” This tells me that the Lord is fully aware at all times, and He knows all about your thoughts and activities, night and day. What a big God we all have access to.
If you are His, meaning have accepted His Son Jesus into your heart, you have personal access to Him, because He lives in your heart, and if you have not accepted Jesus, and want Him to come and live in your heart too, just ask Him in, and tell Him you are sorry for all your sins. You see, He already knows all about you, and He is waiting at your heart’s door to be asked in. You see, He is quite a gentleman. You must ask Him into your heart. He is waiting for you, ASK HIM IN.
Hallelujah!  I LOVE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART. I try to please Jesus in all I do.  Do You Do That Too? Good.

*Early Notice and Public Review of a Proposed
*Activity in a Floodplain

To:  All interested Agencies, Groups and Individuals
This is to give notice that Jefferson County, Alabama under 24 CFR Part 58 has conducted an evaluation as required by Executive Order 11988, to determine the potential affect that its activity in the floodplain will have on the human environment for the Community Development Block Grant program under a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

1.    The following is a description of all of the proposed activities that are located within the floodplain:
*a.     Existing activities that are occurring before proposed project is constructed: Use of gymnasium, weight room and outdoor *water splash park.
*b.    Proposed construction activities: Construction of new toilet rooms in the existing rear parking area, new HVAC unit for the existing gymnasium, and new finishes for the existing weight room.
*c.    New activities when proposed project is completed: No new activities will occur.  This project enhances the existing gymnasium *and weight room, and the proposed bathrooms are for use by people using the existing splash park.  The proposed Midfield *Community Center project is located at 410 Grant Street in Midfield, Jefferson County, Alabama 35228.
2.    The total number of acres of the floodplain: The total acreage of the community center and ball field property is approximately 19.25 acres, of which approximately 18 acres are within the floodplain.
3.    The total number of acres of the activity within the floodplain: The proposed construction activity within the floodplain consists of new flooring for the weight room (1,044 square feet) and new toilet rooms at the rear of the building (390 square feet).  This activity will encompass approximately 1,434 total square feet, which is .033 acres.
4.    The related natural and beneficial functions and values of the floodplain that may be adversely affected by the proposed activity:  This project does not bring any new activities to the floodplain; therefore, there are no adverse effects to the floodplain caused by this proposed project.  In addition, this project is not creating any additional storm water run-off or impervious surfaces, so the floodplain will not be affected by the proposed construction.

There are three primary purposes for this notice.  First, people who may be affected by activities in floodplains and those who have an interest in the protection of the natural environment should be given an opportunity to express their concerns and provide information about these areas.  Second, an adequate public notice program can be an important public educational tool. The dissemination of information about floodplains can facilitate and enhance Federal efforts to reduce the risks associated with the occupancy and modification of these special areas. Third, as a matter of fairness, when the Federal government determines it will participate in actions taking place in floodplains, it must inform those who may be put at greater or continued risk.

Written comments must be received by Jefferson County, Alabama at the following address on or before May 5, 2014:  Jefferson County Office of Community & Economic Development, 716 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd N, Suite A-430, Birmingham, AL 35203 and (205) 325-5761, Attention:  W.D. Carrington, Commission President, during the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Comments may also be submitted via email at smithf@jccal.org.
